This dark crime thriller show made the Netflix Top 10

While popular shows like “Emily in Paris” and “American Murder” dominated Netflix's Top 10, a crime thriller you've probably never heard of surged up this list: last week, “Emily in Paris” and “American Murder: Laci Peterson” dominated Netflix's Top 10, while a crime thriller you've probably never heard of surged up this list

Currently in third place is “Dark Winds” (as of August 21), about two Navajo police officers who must investigate a series of dark crimes in the Southwest in the 1970s When I first came across this show, I had no idea that I was about to discover a truly exciting crime thriller (and at the perfect time when I needed something to watch after “The Walking Dead”)

Having recently rewatched a few episodes, I have a feeling this series is going to be something special for me Already generating buzz on one of the best streaming services, I'm ready to dive back in and binge-watch every twist and turn But is it something you should watch, here's everything you need to know about Netflix's “Dark Winds”

“Dark Winds” is a crime thriller series set in the American Southwest in the 1970s It follows Navajo police officers Joe Leehorn (Zahn McClarnon) and Jim Chee (Kiowa Gordon) as they investigate a series of crimes on the Navajo reservation

Based on “Leaphorn & Chee” by Tony Hillerman, a well-known author of mysteries set in the American Southwest Both protagonists, Leaphorn and Chee, are deeply rooted in Navajo traditions, and their personal and spiritual lives often intersect with their work as police officers

The series mixes crime drama, mystery, and Native American culture to give a special perspective on the struggles of the Navajo community The series has also been praised for its appropriate exploration of important themes such as cultural identity, spirituality, and the impact of colonialism

If you like shows that draw you in with suspense, “Dark Winds” is the kind of thriller you'll want to watch in one sitting over the weekend The show is set in the vast and rugged landscape of the American Southwest, and that alone gives it a unique feel that no other TV show can match

“Dark Winds” combines the tension of a classic crime thriller with the depth of a psychological drama, making it a gripping ride and well worth a quick watch As you follow the case of Joe Leaphorn and Jim Chee, you don't just watch them solve the case, you are drawn into their world and wrestle with their personal struggles and complicated lives on the reservation The show does not shy away from the darker side of human nature, and every episode leaves you feeling like you have “one more thing to do”

Even when the first season was released in 2022, critics praised the show Currently, both seasons have received 100% on Rotten Tomatoes, a rather rare accomplishment Graeme Virtue of The Guardian agreed with the binge-worthy aspect: “A knotted, atmospheric mystery that still feels ephemeral enough to tackle in one or two binges”

The show has also received a lot of praise from the critics

Meanwhile, Judy Berman of TIME magazine said the show is “a very good show that is also a very important event, ‘Dark Winds,’ driven by a handful of sweaty, gorgeous cinematography and great performances”

“Dark Winds” should definitely be streamed With its gripping storytelling, rich cultural depth, and intense dramatics that offer unpredictable twists and turns, it is a must-see for thriller fans, especially now that it has garnered enough attention to be streamed

Be sure to check out Sam Raimi's “Spider-Man” trilogy before it hits Netflix, as well as my favorite dark thriller show just added to Netflix
