As we head into the summer, we've seen a deluge of new movies debuting on Netflix and Prime Video every week turn into a trickle But the best streaming services still have a lot of movies worth watching, both classic and new releases 

Leading this week's pack is hulu's "The First Omen," a surprisingly awesome horror prequel that can retain the original Disney Plus dives into the illustrious career and troubled personal life of the famous muppet and Sesame Street puppeteer "Jim Henson: The Idea Man" The gory and irreverent "Boy Kills World" lands on the video-on-demand service this week Meanwhile, George Clooney's "The Boy in the Boat" arrives in Prime Video, and the adorable mystery film "Pokemon Detective Pikachu" makes its Netflix debut

"Boy Kills World" meets the "Clockwork Orange" mix that "John Wick" never knew I needed, set in a futuristic dystopia filled with mad-cap characters and ultra-violence, Molly's Game is a must This directorial debut from The Beatles Mall is a pulpy action comedy that appeals to fans of the bloody Kippy comedy

Starring as the eponymous boy is Bill Skarsgard ("Helock Grove", "It"), a silent character whose inner thoughts are expressed by H John Benjamin is known for his role as Bob in "Bob's Burger"He is on a quest for revenge against the ruthless Van der Coy family who ran his family during an annual televised event called Culling Trained by the mysterious shaman (Yayan Ruhian), he is determined to defeat the responsible person, paving the way for destruction along the way

The Oscar-winning "Godzilla Minus One" is finally on a streaming platform outside of Japan As someone blown away by it in the theater (I never thought Godzilla movies would leave me blubbering mess), how I share it with friends and family Well, at least not legal 

"Godzilla Minus One" bare the glow of the original Titan — and a heart-wrenching, powerful message of hope about a human race you can't help but feel, written and directed by VFX artist Takashi Yamazaki, set at the end of World War II after the atomic bombs of Hiroshima and Nagasaki He follows Shikishima Koichi (Kamiki Ryunosuke), a Kamikaze pilot who hesitates to take a detour to the maintenance stop on Odo Island He has no way of knowing that the surrender of Japan is on the horizon But after a fateful encounter with a reptile behemoth that will land and wreak havoc, he is sure that the life he has known so far is over

George Clooney steps into the director's chair for the somewhat sleepy biographical sports drama "The Boy on the Boat," based on Daniel James Brown's 2012 novel of the same name Set during the Great Depression, the film tells the touching true story of a University of Washington men's boat team that won a gold medal at the 1936 Olympics in Berlin  

Coach Al Ulbrickson SrThis team of inexperienced rowers, led by (Joel Edgerton), continues to beat some of the most prestigious programs in the United States Before making its Olympic debut Callum Turner, known for his work on the Fantastic Beasts series, stars as Joe Lanz, a team member who sees the boat as a chance to escape his troubled adolescence Critics called the film a by-the-number biopic devoid of memorable moments, but audiences disagreed that "The Boys in The Boat" had a 97% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes

Pokemon Detective Pikachu is a film adaptation of an unusual video game that has captured all the joy and heart of source material The first live-action film based on the blockbuster Pokemon series follows pokemon trainer Tim Goodman (Justice Smith), who once gave up his dream and became estranged from his police detective father after his mother's death  

After he learns that his father has died in a car accident, he heads to his apartment to clean up and discovers the shock of his life: His father's Pikachu speaks in plain English that only he can understand (none of that "shiny" crap) Pikachu (the voice of Ryan Reynolds) convinces Tim that his father is alive, and they join forces to unravel the mystery of his disappearance, an ongoing sinister it's a fun game packed with Easter eggs and references for die・hard fans who still have plenty for non-Pokemon players to enjoy Mystery Adventures

Perhaps one of the best sci-fi movies ever, "Super 8" follows a group of young friends making zombie movies During filming, they witness a devastating train crash and soon discover that the crash has unleashed a mysterious and dangerous creature As strange events and disappearances take place around the town, the children, led by Joe Lamb (Joel Courtney), discover that the train was carrying secret cargo from Area 51 If you're interested in alien movies with horror elements, you can enjoy "Super 8" when you land on a streamer
