If you wish you were in the UK right now (I am), watch "Brassic" on Hulu tomorrow I have not seen this comedy series myself, but a friend in the UK describes it as "a very British show" that will give Americans another taste of Joseph Gilgun ("Misfits," "Preacher")
Gilgun stars as Vincent "Vinnie" O'Neill, the head of a gang of assholes who are constantly committing petty crimes to line their pockets The central relationship in this series is the friendship between Vinnie and his fellow troublemakers Erin (Michelle Keegan) and Dylan (Damian Moloney), with whom they are dating Erin is raising a child named Tyler and wants stability for both of them
Sounds complicated, right? Well, we will find out how these friends make a living and what role Vinny's doctor (Dominic West, who you may know from his role as McNulty in THE WIRE) will play in his life
A UK favorite, "Brassic" was renewed for a second series before the first series aired (yes, series means the same thing as season over there) Season 2 of "Brassic" aired on Sky TV in May of this year Season 2 will have 6 episodes and season 3 will have 8 episodes
Here's what you need to know about how to watch Brassic online
If you're in the US, you can start watching Brassic on Hulu on Friday; it will begin streaming on July 31 at 12:01 AM ET
Unfortunately, Hulu is only available in the US, but people in the UK don't need Hulu to watch Brassic Seasons 1 and 2 have been on Sky TV for some time now
There is no trailer for Brassic itself, but in this preview clip from Sky TV, we see Vinnie's insecurity (about his hair), Dylan's devotion, and Erin's strong parenting skills And they have already admitted to bringing in the thief and blowing up the safe Then they enter Fight Club, and wait, is that a grow house?
Brassic garnered strong critical acclaim Here are some of the comments from TV critics:
The Guardian "In particular, Michelle Keegan as Dylan's girlfriend, Erin, a single mother and one-time party girl, was a great example of a woman who is not only a good actress, but also a great actor
Vulture Hound "Somehow, the series has its own charm and cleverness, entertaining from start to finish"
Vulture Hound: "Somehow, this series has its own charm and cleverness and entertains from start to finish
The Telegraph: "The title derives from northern slang for 'broke'"
"Brassic" was lightly scripted, energetically acted, and much like the early "Shameless" episodes, sharing the cynicism, optimism, and us-versus-them defiance of that show, which was interested in the activities of the mind and brain, not just the groin and fists
The Evening Standard, "Filth! There is a time and place for filth Brassic, the new comedy from edgy actor Joe Gilgun ("This is England") in collaboration with Danny Brocklehurst, the former lead writer of "Shameless," is a tsunami of filth The perfect end to a perfect day
