“The Outer Banks” Season 4 Part 2 is just a few days away, and Netflix has provided a significant update on the show's future.

A statement from creators Josh Pate, Jonas Pate, and Shannon Burke (available on Tudum) confirms that “The Outer Banks” will return for a fifth season. But it's not all good news, as the team also confirmed that the show will be in its final season.

In a letter titled “Attention All Pogues,” the trio revealed that seeing a photo of four best friends on a beach during a power outage, who only wanted to have a good time, inspired them to create the story for this fifth season.

“At that point seven years ago, it really seemed impossible to tell the story of all five seasons.

“The fourth season was the longest, most difficult, but most rewarding. The feature-length episode that closes out the season is our best and most powerful episode yet. We hope you all feel the same way. [And in Season 5, we hope to bring our beloved Pogues home in the way we imagined and planned all those years ago. Season 5 will be our last season, and we think it will be our best one yet. Josh, Jonas, and Shannon added.

Beyond that, story details are being kept under wraps, so it looks like we'll have to wait to see what's in store on the next leg of their adventure when “Outer Banks” Season 4 Part 2 hits Netflix on Thursday, November 7 and sets up this final adventure. The new trailer (embedded above) was unveiled over the weekend by the cast at Netflix's live Poguelandia LA event.
