“Ted Rathbos” Season 4 is more likely than ever, thanks to new comments from a Warner Bros. executive. [Channing Dungey, chairman and CEO of Warner Bros. TV Group, made the comments as if a return to AFC Richmond is a certainty.
The news came from Cannes' Mipcom (h/t Variety), where Dungey commented on the future of “Ted Rathbone” while discussing the upcoming “Harry Potter” TV show on Max.
“We're having a conversation about Season 4,” Dungey said. Dungey also teased that Jason Sudeikis, the coach's rathouse, seems interested in rejoining the show in some capacity.
“It was always clear that if Jason and [the team] weren't feeling excited, there would be no continuation of ‘Ted Russo.’
These comments echo what Dungey said over the summer when he hinted that discussions about a fourth season (or some sort of spin-off) had taken place and suggested that there was a desire for more, as long as “the right ideas” were in place.
Rumors had already been circulating hard for some time, with MacStories writer Sigmund Judge reporting that “Ted Russo” season 4 was “confirmed” in early October 2024, with pre-production to begin in January 2025.
This report came months after “Ted Russo” was reported to be making a comeback by Deadline, which broke the news that Warner Bros. Television had underwritten contract options for three of “Ted Russo's” main stars.
Those stars were Hannah Wadham, who plays AFC Richmond owner Rebecca Welton, Brett Goldstein (fan favorite Roy Kent), and Leslie Higgins, Rebecca's right-hand man and director of football operations Jeremy Swift was.
Unfortunately, with all these rumors and still waiting for an official announcement, we will have to follow Ted's teachings and “believe” that the show has a bright future.
