I love action-packed thriller shows. Especially if it's based on a shocking true story. Helicopter Heist, coming to Netflix next month, is just that. There's even a first trailer, so if you like daring heists and intense character drama, this is definitely one to watch.
From this first look, it's clear that “Helicopter Heist” involves some typically heart-pounding action that's so wildly unrealistic it's hard to believe it's real. Based on an infamous robbery in Sweden where thieves used a helicopter to pull off a daring heist, the show looks like it could be a future No. 1 on streaming services.
If you're a fan of heist dramas and stories based on true events, “Helicopter Heist” should stay on your radar. Here's everything you need to know about this upcoming show on Netflix...
“Helicopter Heist” is based on the 2009 Vestberga helicopter robbery. This daring robbery took place in Stockholm, Sweden, where thieves used a stolen helicopter to land on the roof of a G4S cash vault. They broke in and stole millions of Swedish kroner. The robbery was meticulously planned and their tactics, including using explosives to obstruct the police response, remain one of Sweden's most notorious robberies.
Netflix revealed the official synopsis of the show: “Early one morning in September 2009, eyes from around the world converge on a discreet location on the outskirts of Stockholm. A helicopter lands on the rooftop of the country's most secure cash collection point, and the police can only watch as the robbers disappear with millions of dollars. Not a single shot is fired. Helicopter Heist is a character-driven, moving story of brotherhood and fatherhood, but perhaps most importantly, it is an epic, fast-paced Icarus tale of winning or losing everything. That's because [Helicopter Heist] won't be on Netflix until November 22, 2024. That means less than a month to go until this action-thriller show is available for viewing. The miniseries will consist of eight episodes, with Mahmut Svakci, Ardalan Esmaily, and Iskra Kostić playing the lead roles. It is written by Ronnie Sandahl, directed by Daniel Espinosa, Jonas Alexander Arneby, and Anna Zakrisson, and produced by Johannes Ohlund.
Given that it has all the right ingredients - action, drama, and the crazy true story that shocked the nation in 2009 - this action thriller could easily rank in Netflix's top 10.
In the meantime, check out this action thriller movie that recently made Netflix's top 10 list. You can also watch the first trailer for Hulu's new action-comedy.
