7 Netflix Movies Over 90% on Rotten Tomatoes to Watch Now

The movie libraries of the best streaming services are in constant flux, with new titles constantly being created and disappearing This makes the task of narrowing down which films to watch all the more tricky [So, Tom's Guide presents a hand-picked selection of films that have scored 90% or higher on the review aggregator Rotten Tomatoes, and which we recommend for your next movie viewing Of course, a high critic score does not necessarily mean a film will be a hit (after all, everyone's tastes are different), but the scores are a great place to start when considering what to see next

So, if you're looking for something new on Netflix, here are seven films I think should be on your watch list This list includes a poignant and claustrophobic drama starring Brie Larson, a psycho-horror that will stick with you long after the credits roll, and one of the best Godzilla movies ever made

“Pearl,” the middle part of Ti West's “X” trilogy, is a great psycho-horror film that stands solidly on its own Mia Goss gives a career-defining performance as Pearl, a young woman who dreams of Hollywood stardom but actually feels suffocated by her overbearing mother (Thandie Wright), confined to the family farm while her husband is off to WWI

When Pearl's wealthy sister-in-law tells her that a local troupe is auditioning dancers for a traveling show, Pearl is convinced this is her chance to escape But things begin to fall apart, and dreams of fame slip through her fingers Much of the impact of this disturbing psycho horror film is owed to Goss's outstanding lead performance The highlight is a gripping monologue that really showcases her talent

If you haven't seen the poignant drama that brought Brie Larson her first Oscar, you're missing out In Room, she plays Joy, a woman kidnapped as a teenager Joy is trapped in a small cabin with her 5-year-old son Jack (Jacob Tremblay)

For Jack, the cabin, called “The Room,” is his world itself But in order for them to escape, Joy must find a way to teach him about the outside world and, more importantly, find a way to summon help to free them While “Room” is undoubtedly an emotional film (you'll need tissues, so be sure to have them ready), it is also a testament to the resilience of the human spirit, and the love between mother and child on the screen is seriously moving

Genre Drama Starring Brie Larson, Jacob Tremblay, Joan Allen, Sean Bridgers, Tom McCamus, William H Macy Rotten Tomatoes Score: 93 Watch Now on Netflix

As someone who was underwhelmed by GODZILLA Minus One in theaters (never thought a Godzilla movie would make me cry my eyes out), I have long admired this film The film showcases the splendor of the original Titan, wrapped in a heart-wrenching yet profound message of hope for humanity, and leaves a lasting impact on the heart

Written and directed by acclaimed CG animator and VFX artist Takashi Yamazaki, “GODZILLA Minus One” begins at the end of World War II, after the atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki The film features Koichi Shikishima (Ryunosuke Kamiki) A kamikaze suicide pilot, he is conflicted about fulfilling his mission and makes a detour to Odo Island He has no way of knowing that Japan's surrender has already begun But after a fateful encounter with a giant reptilian creature that emerges from the sea and unleashes chaos and destruction, he is faced with a new and terrifying reality and must decide what is worth dying for

My colleague Laurie described Richard Linklater's sexy, nihilistic comedy “Hitman” as one of Netflix's strongest original films in years, and I would agree Critics hailed it as a genre-melding thriller that solidifies Glen Powell as one of Hollywood's biggest rising stars

A mix of lighthearted crime caper and rom-com, “Hitman” stars Powell as Gary Johnson, a hard-nosed professor who works as a fake hit man for the police Dressed in a variety of elaborate costumes, he convinces prospective clients that he is a ruthless hit man But when a femme fatale (Adria Arjona) asks him to eliminate her abusive husband, Gary breaks protocol To conceal his true identity from her, he embarks on a dangerous deception that gradually cascades to dangerous consequences

Genre Romantic comedy, action Cast Glen Powell, Adria Arjona, Austin Amelio, Retta, Sanjay Rao Rotten Tomatoes Score: 95 Watch Now on Netflix

Sometimes you just need a little peek into the lives of the super-rich Crazy Rich Asians, adapted from Kevin Kwan's novel of the same name, stars Constance Wu as Rachel Chu Rachel is a professor at New York University whose boyfriend Nick (Henry Goulding) turns out to be (you guessed it) crazy rich

She doesn't learn this until the couple is on their way to Singapore for the wedding of a friend of Nick's Just meeting her partner's family is nerve-wracking enough, but when everyone, including Nick's mother Eleanor (Michelle Yeoh), is looking down on her, Rachel reaches a new level of stress Hilarious and gorgeous, “Crazy Rich Asians” is one of the most watchable films on this list The supporting cast is also excellent, especially Akwafina as Rachel's de facto high society lecturer and Nico Santos as the self-proclaimed rainbow-colored sheep of the family

Genre Romantic comedy Cast Constance Wu, Henry Golding, Gemma Chan, Lisa Lu, Awkwafina, Ken Chong, Michelle Yeoh Rotten Tomatoes Score: 91 Watch Now on Netflix

“Nimona” is one of the best animated films in years, combining a heartfelt story about acceptance and family discovery with the gorgeous visuals of the Spider-verse series As someone who grew up reading ND Stevenson's Nimona comics, on which the film is based, it is one of my favorites on this list

Set in a futuristic medieval kingdom, the film follows an up-and-coming knight barrister (Riz Ahmed) He is an underdog, but in what should be his finest moment, he is framed for murder and forced to go into hiding As he struggles to clear his name, he catches the eye of the shapeshifting fall guy Nimona (Chloe Grace Moretz), who declares him her partner To save the day, the barrister joins forces with a monster sworn to destroy

Genre Action, Kids/Family Starring Chloe Grace Moretz, Riz Ahmed, Eugene Lee Yang, Francis Conroy Rotten Tomatoes Score: 92 Watch it now on Netflix

“His House” is a film I would virtually recommend to anyone looking to get into the genre, not just horror fans It is packed with psychologically terrifying moments that are sure to haunt you long after the credits roll, and has the honor of being the only film to receive a 100% critics score on Rotten Tomatoes

“His House” follows Bor (Sope Dilis) and Rial (Ummi Mosaku), a young refugee couple fleeing war-torn South Sudan, as they struggle to put down roots in a small English town Facing hostility and racism in their new community, the couple struggles to adapt But what strains their relationship the most is the mysterious evil force that haunts their home Real begs to move out, but Bol fears that if they make too many waves, they will be deported, and the two are left to face their fears on their own
