The bulk of “Cobra Kai” Season 6 saw Sensei Daniel Larusso (Ralph Macchio), Johnny Lawrence (William Zabka), and the students of Miyagikido preparing for the prestigious international karate tournament, the World Championships, in Barcelona, Spain
At the end of Season 6 Part 1, the sixth season of the Netflix series will be released in three parts, with the first five episodes coming out this July, the second on November 28, and the last five in 2025 (According to “Cobra Kai” showrunner John Hurwitz, “Sekai Taikai” will be as demanding as it was teased throughout the season
In August, Hurwitz hosted a social media Q&A with fans on Twitter, where they asked questions and gained insight into season 6 of “Cobra Kai” In response to one viewer's question, “Have Sekai Taikai contestants really died in the past, or was (Mike) Burns just trying to scare kids?” And Hurwitz replied coyly: “I'll take Mike Burns' word for it”
“Everyone I know who has participated in this has a horror story Mike Burns (Sean Kanan), the villain in the OG's “Karate Kid,” who returned this season to train Daniel and Johnny's students, warned his fellow Miyagi-Michi students in Part 1 “I will do what 'Sekai Taikai' does I will surprise you guys I will push you to your limits”
In a July 2024 interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Hurwitz said of the tournament: “Going into part two, there is the biggest, craziest martial arts tournament that exists in the ‘Karate Kid’ franchise at Sekai Taikai in Barcelona At Barcelona's Sekai Taikai, there will be the biggest and craziest martial arts tournament in the history of the “Karate Kid” franchise There's more happening on and off the mat”
In Hurwitz's words, the World Championships are going to be tough for the kids of Miyagikido Daniel called this championship “the swan song of karate,” and made some curious discoveries about his own master, Mr Miyagi, and his relationship with Sekai Taikai (But again, no spoilers here!)
