Apple TV Plus continues to raise the bar with new quality TV shows, and while obvious hits like “Bad Monkey” and “Slow Horses” have dominated the charts recently, there is a new contender that could stir the streaming service up a lot The “Disclaimer” is the latest psycho-thriller that everyone is talking about, and for good reason
Directed by Alfonso Cuarón and starring Cate Blanchett, the show offers a gripping story and has already received rave reviews It centers on a journalist who finds a mysterious book on her bedside table (which is enough to get my attention)
If you're looking for your next Bingeworth thriller, “Disclaimer” could be a must-see this season Here's what you need to know about the show and what the critics are saying about it

“Disclaimer” is a psycho-thriller series revolving around Catherine Ravenscroft (Cate Blanchett), a renowned journalist who has made a career out of uncovering hidden truths But her life takes a dark turn when she discovers a mysterious novel at her bedside
The book contains eerie details of traumatic events from her past that she believed had long been buried Catherine is forced to confront disturbing secrets and wrestle with the consequences of her past actions, threatening her reputation, career, and personal life
“Disclaimer” is already a critical hit It currently has an 81% fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes from 48 reviews at the time of writing This score could change as more episodes are released in the coming weeks
Kevin Marr of The Times says: “Thoughtful, disturbing, thrilling, and at times underwhelmingly good” Meanwhile, Laura Babiak of the Observer said it was “pulpy, plot-laden, and near-perfect” and that “this thrilling miniseries demands to be seen”
Alex Maidy of JoBlo's Movie Network also had some pretty strong words to say about it: not only is Disclaimer the best series of 2024, it's one of the best TV series of all time Disclaimer is a masterpiece of storytelling by one of the best filmmakers working today”
While “Disclaimer” has received mostly positive reviews, there are a few criticisms that prevent it from reaching over 90% on Rotten Tomatoes; Marshall Shaffer of Decider says: “Rather than expressing the contradictions in human behavior, Cuaron simply balks at trying to understand any of them; 'Disclaimer' is unable to reconcile the breadth of its scope with the lack of detail it seeks to emphasize”
Nina Metz of the Chicago Tribune also put it simply: “Well-made and wonderfully acted, in the end ‘Disclaimer’ is also emotionally dishonest”
Whatever the criticism, it is clear that “Disclaimer” is getting a lot of attention right now, largely because of its engaging premise and talented cast of actors If you're looking for something to keep you hooked, this psycho thriller will surely do the trick
“Disclaimer” is already shaping up to be one of the best psycho-thrillers of the year If you're in the mood for something intense that will make you question everything you thought you knew, this new Apple TV Plus show should go straight to your watch list As much as I love shocking developments, I will definitely be streaming it
