Not to sound the doom alarm, but at least one buyer of Samsung's new Galaxy Watch Ultra smartwatch has experienced a serious design flaw in their new smartwatch, similar to the quality control issues with the Galaxy Buds 3 earphones Could this be a foreshadowing of the same kind of quality control issues with the Galaxy Buds 3 earbuds?
Maybe Or it could be just a lemon discovered by Android Police [This new watch is one of several new Samsung devices launching this week: the Galaxy Z Flip 6, Z Fold 6, Galaxy Watch 7, and the all-new Galaxy Ring
The flawed Galaxy Watch Ultra, which appears to be a direct answer to Apple's smartwatch of the same name, was posted on Samsung's Reddit subreddit
The issue relates to the bezel, which is etched with expanded 3, 6, 9, and 12 hour periods Unfortunately, on the Reddit user's watch, the bezel is misaligned and the numbers do not match the proper etching when the watch is worn
The Redditor, who identifies himself as lbuddhaa, suggests that he purchased the watch directly from Samsung, which must be infuriating given the Galaxy Watch Ultra's starting price of $650
They posted several images, noting that the dials on all the watches they tried were misaligned
It was also suggested that it could be a display issue, perhaps the glass was glued crookedly and this was causing the bezel to kink
Hopefully the clock will be replaced soon
Is this an unfortunate anecdote of a lemon that has fallen off the production line? It happens all the time Or is it similar to the ongoing Galaxy Watch Buds 3 fiasco, which I checked the Galaxy Watch Ultra review unit and appears to have been adjusted correctly (see above)
It is unclear if the Galaxy Watch Ultra is manufactured by the same company that produces the Buds 3 However, Samsung's Galaxy Watch lineup seems to have companies in manufacturing setups all over the world, whereas the Buds 3 appears to be manufactured in all the same locations, so the inconvenience may not be so common
As of this writing, we only have this one report from a Reddit user, but we will keep an eye out for more reports as more of these watches are put on more wrists
