Whoever became an ardent supporter of Rob McElhenny and Ryan Reynolds' Welsh soccer club in "Welcome to Wrexham" may soon become an ardent supporter of Club Nexaca by FX
As reported by Deadline, McElhenney and Reynolds have teamed with another celebrity owner, Eva Longoria, to produce a new bilingual (English and Spanish) sports All three stars are on board as executive producers and on-air stars
The series has yet to be titled, but is currently called Bienvenidos a Necaxa, and Variety confirmed that filming began yesterday (July 9), just days after the start of Mexico's latest season of Liga MX The series will follow in the footsteps of "Welcome to Wrexham" and is expected to similarly depict the ups and downs of Club Nexaca's upcoming journey
Nexaca was originally based in Mexico City, but the century-old team relocated to the Mexican city of Aguascalientes (known as the "land of the good guys") after a few rough seasons, and from the looks of the FX synopsis, the celebrities are Rexham seems eager to work the same kind of magic that worked so well at AFC [Mexican-American owner Eva Longoria will try to breathe new life into the team with the help of her high-profile friends, including new co-owners Rob McElhenny and Ryan Reynolds
The two Rexam investors purchased a stake in Club Necaxa in April 2024 In addition to Longoria, McElhenny, and Reynolds, the club has received investments from Kate Upton, Odell Beckham Jr, Mesut Özil, Justin Verlander, and Shawn Marion
The series does not have a release date as of this writing, but it seems logical that it would begin airing after the current Liga MX season is over

This good news was confirmed in May 2024 In a statement released at the time, FX Entertainment president Nick Grad commented: "Wrexham AFC, under the leadership of Rob and Ryan, have been promoted for the second year in a row and will compete in League One next season
