Lenovo's ThinkPad has consistently ranked at the top of our Best Business Laptops list, but a serious problem with a new model threatens to undermine its sterling reputation

ThinkPad laptops from 2017 to 2019 have been reported to contain faulty USB-C ports; the issue, first reported by Notebookcheck, has been reported by Lenovo as a "Critical Intel Thunderbolt Software and Firmware Updates"

According to that document, more than a dozen ThinkPad laptops are experiencing serious problems with their USB-C ports Lenovo posted a list of symptoms that customers who own the defective devices may encounter:

Dozens of ThinkPad models are affected by the USB-C defect, including some of our favorite devices These include the ThinkPad X1 Carbon (5th to 7th generation), X1 Yoga (2nd to 4th generation), and P-series ThinkPads

If you have a ThinkPad laptop, go to Lenovo's support page and scroll to the bottom to download the appropriate drivers

These drivers are very easy to use

These driver and firmware packages are designed to fix USB-C issues If they do not resolve the issue, please contact Lenovo Technical Support; Lenovo is adding drivers for more laptops
