The latest Windows 10 update offers many new features, but as new entries arrive, some features are quietly being retired
We also hear that the Windows 10 May 2020 update will end some features in a different way; according to TechRadar, here's what's going bye-bye in the May 2020 update
For starters, Cortana is also getting old and is going to forget some of the consumer-facing skills related to the music and smart/connected home categories, as well as some of the skills that are not tied to Microsoft devices
These seem to be just some of the many major changes happening to Cortana Rumor has it that Microsoft will rename the assistant to "Microsoft 365 Assistant" (according to our sister site Laptop Mag)
Microsoft has also discontinued Windows To Go, a feature that turns a USB drive into a bootable Windows drive Development had been halted for about a year; To Go was probably needed
Microsoft Mobile Plans and Messaging apps are no longer part of the default Windows 10 installation Developers can add them as needed, but the latter seems increasingly irrelevant since Windows 10 Mobile
The Dynamic Disks app for partitioning is being discontinued; Microsoft plans to replace it (someday) with Storage Spaces the Microsoft Companion Device Framework allows external facial recognition and fingerprint readers (for computers that do not have one built in) and other external hardware support, but is being forgotten
And as expected, Microsoft has shifted resources away from the old Edge web browser and replaced it with a Chromium-based version
Of course, the big Windows 10 update gives many reasons to download it (and moreover, it will happen eventually) Search capabilities are much improved, File Explorer has received some nice improvements, and new protocols like Wi-Fi 6 and WPA3 are supported If you are trying to prevent overheating, you can also use Task Manager to watch the temperature of the graphics card
As for what Cortana is learning, the assistant has a new chat-like interface that allows you to type and speak requests Also, Microsoft's Edge browser will consume less memory
DirectX 12 Ultimate allows for smoother visuals and improved detail (without compromising frame rates); the Xbox Game Bar supports third-party widgets to enhance gameplay; and the Xbox Game Bar now supports the Xbox Game Bar, which allows users to create their own game bars
