Google Chrome will soon include a "Read Later" feature for desktop and laptop users, finally catching up with other browsers such as Safari, Firefox, and Edge and its own mobile version

This upcoming feature was discovered by XDA Developers within Chromium Gerrit, a site where upcoming changes to Chrome's base code are registered

The iOS, iPadOS, and Android versions of Chrome already have the Reading List feature Google's help page on this matter currently advises PC and Mac users how to save web pages offline, which is far less convenient than the in-browser option

Even pre-release versions of Chrome, such as Chrome Canary and Chrome Beta, have not yet implemented this feature; there is a flag to enable the Read Later feature, but currently nothing happens when this is done However, when this feature is released, a new Read Later button will appear, allowing users to see all their saved tabs

This may have been inspired by the growing competition from Apple, Microsoft, and Mozilla Reduced RAM usage for background tabs, new tab navigation on mobile, MacBook-specific improvements, and tab grouping are all in the works, and some updates will be available when you enable them in Chrome's Flags menu
